“Abandoned Wasteland” implies a landscape from which humans have vanished, probably because they have killed their own kind in war or through the drought and fire they have brought upon themselves by destroying the atmosphere of their planet. This musical tableau of such a future sounds slightly melancholic, but peaceful too.

To human ears, as long they are there to hear it, these dronescapes sound rather harmonic, and this brings a comforting note to the music that is at odds with the apocalyptic sound of the track titles. But isn't there comfort in the fact that earth, and the non-human creatures on it that have escaped the murderous reign of humanity, may thrive again after the exit of mankind has left the planet? We won't be there to see the wasteland that we left in our wake bloom again, but this album gives us a sort of musical glimpse into that post-human future.
